Caralluma Adscendens is a high valued ornamental feature.

• Caralluma Adscendens (Caralluma Cactus) is an erect growing branched herb, Native originated to Indian Peninsula and belongs to the family of “Apocynaceae”. They are known for their leafless stems, fleshy and green, four-angled. And flowers bloom during summer, at the end of each branch as singly or in a short stalk. Flowers appear like a wheel with narrow petals of purple colored with yellow markings and frilly hairy margins.

Caralluma Adscendens consist of some edible values too.

• Apart from their ornamental appearance, Caralluma Adscendens also bear fruits that are cylindrical in shape with lengths of 10-12cm, which are edible in fact and are widely consumed in Indian Cuisines dishes. 

They are reported to have some Medicinal properties.

• There have been some traces that it has been used in some of traditional medicines like in treating as anti-obesity, or for its dermatitis, for wound healing purposes. There has been a recent report that states it contains antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-ulcers and anti-diabetic properties. But one should use these only after consulting from professionals. 

It’s not a Pet-friendly plant.

• Although they are not toxic, they are a bit thorny from its outer portions. This could be your first reason to keep them away from your pets or children. And in any way their parts ingested over certain limits, then it might cause some minor stomach upset, constipation, intestinal gas and stomach pain.
